On 29 December 2020, an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 Mw (6.2 ML) hit central Croatia. The maximum felt intensity was estimated at VIII (Heavily damaging) to IX (Destructive) on the European macro seismic scale. Terra Motus located the fault line (shown red on the picture) using the InSAR method. The red coloured zone shows the elevated crust area and the blue colour represents soil that had deteriorated. InSAR is a radar technique used in geodesy and remote sensing which uses two or more SAR images to generate surface deformation or digital elevation, using differences in the phase of the waves returning to the satellite or aircraft.
Innovation Norway, The Programme Business Development and Innovation Croatia has recognised our idea as eligible to compete in this contest that aims to increase value creation and sustainable growth in the Croatian private sector. Terra Motus wants to contribute to the space sector economy development by supporting Blue Growth part of the Programme using space related technologies in sea monitoring.
Terra Motus has successfully submitted an application for e-Shape Call as a lead partner. This project is based on InSAR technology used to monitor deformations on critical infrastructure objects. We are keen to develop robust and automated methodology completing Terra Motus existing InSAR workflow.
